Our Mission
DosageGuide.com helps dog owners answer one of the most common questions in pet care: "How much should I feed my dog?"
We provide breed-specific feeding guides for over 200 dog breeds, covering daily calorie needs, portion sizes for different food types, puppy feeding schedules, and senior dog nutrition advice. Every guide is generated using established veterinary nutrition formulas and breed-specific data.
Our Methodology
Calorie Calculations
We use the standard Resting Energy Requirement (RER) formula recommended by veterinary nutritionists: RER = 70 × (body weight in kg)^0.75. Daily Energy Requirement is calculated by multiplying RER by a breed-specific activity factor derived from energy level data.
Breed Data
Breed weights, energy levels, health predispositions, and growth charts are sourced from comprehensive breed databases and cross-referenced with AKC and breed club standards.
Nutritional Mapping
Breed-specific health conditions are mapped to nutritional recommendations. For example, breeds prone to hip dysplasia receive glucosamine supplementation advice, while obesity-prone breeds receive portion control guidance.
Important Note
Our feeding guides are estimates based on general veterinary formulas. Every dog is unique — factors including metabolism, activity level, spay/neuter status, and specific food brands affect actual calorie needs. We always recommend consulting your veterinarian for personalized feeding advice.
