Dog Food Calculator
Calculate your dog's daily calorie needs and recommended portions.
Note:This calculator provides estimates based on standard veterinary formulas (RER = 70 × weight^0.75). Actual needs vary by breed, metabolism, and health status. Adjust portions based on your dog's body condition and consult your veterinarian for personalized feeding advice.
How It Works
1. RER Formula
Resting Energy Requirement = 70 × (body weight in kg)^0.75. This is the base energy a dog needs at rest.
2. Activity Factor
Multiply RER by an activity factor (1.2 for low, 1.5 for moderate, 1.65 for active, 1.8 for very active) to get Daily Energy Requirement.
3. Portions
Daily calories are divided by the caloric density of each food type: ~380 kcal/cup kibble, ~250 kcal/can wet, ~30 kcal/oz raw.
